Join fellow Duke alumni, family members, and friends for a guided tour of UCLA's beautiful Mathias Botanical Garden, a hidden gem on the southeastern corner of the UCLA campus. Families are warmly welcome, and this relaxed, easy walk is perfect for participants of all ages, including young children.
Spanning seven acres and home to more than 3,000 species of plants from around the world, the Mathias Botanical Garden is both a living museum and a peaceful urban oasis in the heart of Los Angeles. During our guided tour, Garden educators will introduce us to remarkable plant collections, local wildlife, and the fascinating history of this unique space. Along the way, we'll learn how the Garden supports education, research, conservation, and community engagement at UCLA.
Missing Duke Gardens? This is a wonderful opportunity to explore UCLA's version with fellow Blue Devils and see how it compares. Whether you're a gardening enthusiast, nature lover, or simply looking for a fun weekend outing with the family, this tour offers a chance to connect with fellow alumni while enjoying one of Los Angeles' most beautiful green spaces.
The tour typically lasts 45 minutes to one hour and follows easy, accessible pathways throughout the Garden. After the tour, guests are welcome to continue exploring on their own and enjoy the Garden at their own pace.
The Garden may close due to rain or other severe weather conditions. In the event of a weather-related closure, this event will be canceled.
