Megan is the Co-founder and Chief Growth and Operations Officer of Big Spoon Roasters, a maker of handcrafted nut butters and snack bars in Hillsborough, NC.Megan's love of great-tasting and good-for-you food was born from her upbringing in a family of great cooks and bakers, along with her experience as an endurance athlete. She loved nuts as a nutrient-dense, protein-packed and delicious source of fuel, and began crafting her own nut-butter-based bars for delicious energy on the go. When Megan met her partner in business and in life, Mark, they connected over a shared passion for food, sustainability, and transparency. With the American craft food movement burgeoning in the coffee, bread, beer, and cheese categories, they felt that pantry goods were lacking the same spotlight, and so Megan and Mark decided it was time to change how people felt about one of their favorite foods –found in nearly every U.S. household – by crafting small-batch, culinary-inspired, fresh nut butters and bars.

While food has always been a guiding force in Megan’s life, it has not, until recently, been what actually put food on the table. Her first job out of college was in IT consulting, and after business school, she built her career in strategy, operations, and leadership development, primarily in higher education. She was the Director of Admissions for Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and a Principal at a boutique higher education consulting firm that she helped launch. Megan’s responsibilities at Big Spoon include strategy, operations, sales, marketing, human resources, and finance. She loves that every day is different, and that she is able to work with her hands, her head, and her heart in a values-based business with a fabulous team.

Outside of her career, Megan is a certified personal trainer, Spinning and PiYo Strength instructor, and an avid baker. She loves to spend her free time outside with Mark and their hounds, Grüner and Sauvy. She has held Board positions at the Durham YMCAs, where she was formerly Chair, and Orange County Living Wage, as Treasurer. Megan earned her B.A. in Psychology from Cornell University and her MBA at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business.

Larry L. Fobes is the founder of Learning From Leaders, LLC and co-founder of Learning With Leaders, LLC. He created, hosted, and co-produced the Emmy award winning television series Leaders on Leadership, which ran for eight seasons and featured global leaders sharing insights with studio audience of students and broadcast viewers across the U.S., Asia, and Canada.

A frequent speaker, moderator, and trainer on business and leadership topics, Larry often incorporates clips from the series into interactive discussions. He also moderated panels for private and public events, including programs covered by C-SPAN.

Larry spent 30 years at Ford Motor Company in product design, scientific research, operational finance, and global business strategy, where he led a worldwide team supporting 150 markets across 5 continents. He was also the founding Director of the Wayne State University’s Institute for Organizational & Industrial Competitiveness (IOIC).

He holds a Global Executive MBA from Duke University; The Executive Program at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan; and an engineering graduate degree from Wayne State University.
