This two-day workshop introduces the fundamentals of video editing through the lens of documentary filmmaking. Centering the interview as a key documentary form, participants will learn how interview footage is filmed and recorded, then move through the editing process in Adobe Premiere Pro, including importing and organizing media, syncing video and sound, building a sequence, and exporting for different platforms. Designed for beginners, the course offers a hands-on introduction to the essential tools and workflow needed to begin editing a short documentary or interview-based video.

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

  • Build and edit a short interview-based documentary sequence using Adobe Premiere Pro, from import through export
  • Organize and sync video and audio, then construct a clear, story-driven sequence from raw interview footage
  • Understand the full post-production workflow for documentary editing, including preparing media for different platforms
